Britney Jean Spears was born on December 2nd, 1981 in Kentwood, Louisiana. Growing up she liked dance and gymnastics but loved to sing. She began her career as a mousketeer on MMC at age 11, alongside other future stars such as Justin Timberlake. She had originally auditioned for the show at age 8, but was turned down for being too young.
Her first album, "...Baby One More Time" was an international success and has sold more than 25 million copies worldwide. Dubbed the "Princess of Pop" by the media, she continued her success with her second album, "Oops!...I Did It Again," which was released the following year. She was nominated for several Grammy awards for her earlier albums, but didn't actually win won until 2005, when she received the "Best Dance Recording" award for Toxic.
